Jessica Carter is a Communications Specialist and Team Leader at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence. She joined the EUI in 2022 after having served as Deputy Director of Communications for six years at the European University Association. Previously, Jessica worked at the Aspen Institute’s Rome headquarters for nearly a decade, where she was co-founder and Managing Editor of the award-winning journal on geopolitics, Aspenia online. A trained journalist, Jessica spent the first six years of her career as a political reporter and anchor working in television newsrooms in the United States.
Valentina Pasquali is a freelance journalist. Her writing and photography have appeared in Foreign Policy Magazine, The Washington Post, Global Post, National Public Radio, D-La Repubblica delle Donne, among others. Over the course of the past several years, she has reported from Haiti, Italy, the US, Turkey, Indonesia, Nepal, France and China, writing for both US- and Itay-based publications. She has been writing about American politics since the 2004 Presidential Elections.
Riccardo Pennisi, Author and Editor at Aspeniaonline, is a political analyst focusing on geopolitics and global trends. He has previously carried out studies on democratization, state building and EU enlargement, and has given lectures at LUISS and UNINT university in Rome. He has worked with the Assembly of European Regions in Strasbourg, and as a writer for Il Mattino. He is also an engineer and the director of Zhu+Rich Sagl, a consultancy firm in business strategy, development, and organization based in Switzerland. Over the past 25 years he has been involved in industrial and organizational projects in Europe, Asia, and North America. He writes on topics such as industrial development, natural resources, energy, and the environment.
Maurizio Sgroi is a poligraph. He is the editor of The Walking Debt, a blog focusing on international affairs and macroeconomics. He also writes for the Italian blog Econopoly-Sole 24 Ore. As author, he wrote “La Storia della ricchezza”, Diarkos.
