Giorgio Musso

Giorgio Musso (Genova, Italy) is a Senior research fellow in African History and Institutions at Roma Tre University. He has been a teacher at the Universities of Genova, Perugia, IUSS-Pavia, SciencesPO. His publications have appeared on Italian and international journals, and focussed on topics such as the contemporary political history of Sudan and South Sudan, Islamism in Africa, water politics in the Nile valley and migrations in the Mediterranean. In his extra-academic activity, he has served as a Refugee Status Determination officer for the Italian Ministry of Interior since 2018 till 2022, and contributed in the fields of peace-making, interfaith dialogue and humanitarian aid within the Community of Sant’Egidio.
