Andrea de Georgio is an Associate Research Fellow at ISPI. He is a freelance journalist based in Mali since 2012 and covers the main countries of Western Africa. He contributed to several Italian and foreign tv, radios, newspapers and magazines. In 2011, he undertook a postgraduate degree in Sciences of Languages, History and Cultures of Mediterranean and Islamic Countries at the University of Naples. In 2012 he won the journalism international award “Maria Grazia Cutuli” and in 2017 the "Letizia Leviti" award. De Georgio is the author of "Altre Afriche: racconti di paesi sempre più vicini" (Egea, 2017) and of “Il grande gioco del Sahel: dalle carovane di sale ai Boeing di cocaina” (Bollati Boringhieri, 2021), with Marco Aime.
