Iulia Iashchenko, a Ph.D. candidate in European History at the Sapienza University of Rome, studies democratic transitioning and transitional justice processes of Eastern Europe, particularly post-Soviet Russia. Her academic interests include history of totalitarian regimes within Europe as well. She collaborates with the research center CAMES in the field of Russian and Chinese disinformation and propaganda spread (Sapienza University of Rome).
